The pneumatic Idrostop system, designed by Fluiten, guarantees maximum safety on boats. It is an optional system, installable on MUV, MUSV, and MMSV seals, which, activated when the shaft is stationary, seals the water inlet preventing leakage inside the hull.
The Idrostop flange is installed between the mechanical seal and the through-hull; in case of emergency, the silicon rubber air chamber, inserted inside the flange is inflated, adheres to the shaft and prevents water infiltration with the shaft stationary.
This optional system allows for maintenance interventions and ordinary and extraordinary checks on the mechanical seal without hauling the boat, with the benefit of significantly reducing intervention costs.
In case of catastrophic seal failure, due to impacts on the propeller or mechanical failures in then the engine room, by activating the Idrostop system after blocking the shaft, it is possible to return to port in total safety
