Like other mechanical components, bearings, screws, flanges, pipes, etc., component mechanical seals have also been standardized in accordance with UNI-EN 12756 (ex DIN24960) standard. The main purpose of the standard is to promote interchangeability between seals from different manufacturers, allowing the end user to procure the replacement part from a selected supplier without modifying the machine’s housing dimensions. The application of this standard is advantageous also for the machine manufacturer, as it allows series production by installing seals from different suppliers.
The standard refers to single internal seals and indicates:
- Land overall dimensions in mm and machining tolerances up to a shaft or sleeve diameter of 100mm. The individual components can be dimensioned according to one’s own know-how, provided that the total footprint is respected.
- The coding of the seal to allow simplified management for the buyer and the equipment manufacturer.
- The application and the type of configuration when double seals are selected.
Fluiten has always produced seals with unified components, certain that quality and service are such that they do not lead their customers to alternative solutions. Seals with non-unified components are a constraint for the end user and the equipment manufacturer.
