Cylindrical ring segmented and assembled with a spring placed on the outer diameter, made of material spark-proof, normally graphite.
Installed in the stationary flange of the mechanical seal, the sleeve is dimensioned to close on the shaft or the rotating shaft sleeve of the machine, to close the existing gap between the flange and the shaft or shaft sleeve, and follow the radial movement of the rotating shaft itself. The floating sleeve allows the physiological leakage of the seal to be conveyed to the flange drainage connection, to avoid contact between the seal flange and the shaft sleeve in case of abnormal and unforeseen oscillations of the shaft, and allow washing/cooling of the seal with atmospheric pressure flushing (plan 62).
